Description
HI:PE Torque Springs 2000 RPM
The Torque Springs is one of the most important components of your scooter’s CVT system. It acts as a counterweight to the Variators at the front and determines at which revs the scooter changes gear, so to speak. At the front, the Variators Roller Weights try to push the belt up into gear via centrifugal force, while the Torque Springs inside the Pulleys at the rear provide Resistors and keep the belt down in gear. It’s the balance between the weight of the Roller Weights and the strength of the Springs that determines when and how quickly the scooter shifts. The Torque Springs also ensures that the rear Pulleys are always sufficiently compressed so that the Drive Belts are tight and don’t slip against the metal surfaces. And when you let off the gas or drive up a hill, it’s the Torque Springs that pushes the belt back into a lower gear so the engine is ready when you hit the gas again. This Springs from HI:PE is the strongest in the HI:PE range and is equivalent to hard-strength, 2000 RPM, making it a great choice for moderate to hard-tuned scooters.
Fits a very wide range of 50cc scooters, both 2-stroke and 4-stroke
The Springs are compatible with a wide range of scooters from many brands, both 2-stroke and 4-stroke. Remember that a too loose Springs causes the belt to slip and the scooter to gear up too quickly, while a too tight Springs steals top speed and wears the belt unnecessarily. The medium strength here is therefore a good starting point if you’ve done some light tuning such as a new Exhausts or Cylinders.
